Bio-Based White Eggshell as a Value-Added Filler in Poly(Lactic Acid) Composites

چکیده

Based on its positive environmental impact, poly(lactic acid) (PLA) has been a gradual substitute for synthetic plastics used in diverse applications. The use of industrial limestone (ILS) as filler polymers can have advantages changing the properties pure polymers. Waste eggshells (WE) be seen an alternative to ILS they are also source calcium carbonate. To assess feasibility both types and sizes, PLA composites were manufactured by injection molding with contents 5, 10, 20 wt.%. Tensile, flexural, impact mechanical evaluated addition water absorption. One-way analysis variance (ANOVA) was performed determine whether statistically significant differences among measured existed. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) view morphology fillers fractured surfaces. composite tensile strengths flexural best when loadings 5 wt.% 10 wt.%, respectively, types. modulus increased loadings. strength obtained at threshold level slightly better smaller particles sizes. ANOVA identified mean property values evaluated. SEM showed surfaces different from indicating some transformation occurred matrix. weight gains due absorption observed increase content while had higher gains. Although containing somewhat enhanced over WE-filled composites, end application will dictate which type PLA.

Biorefinery lignin as filler material in polylactic acid composite

In natural world, lignin is unique and the most abundant renewable carbon source after cellulose, therefore, more applications of adding commercial value of lignin are needed. Polylactic acid (PLA), which has the second highest consumption of bioplastic in the world, is a biodegradable composite with widely application in industry. A filler adding into PLA can decrease the cost of the composite...

Effects of Biomass in Polyethylene or Polylactic Acid Composites

There is need for bioplastics to replace some of the total petroleum plastics used in the world, and help alleviate environmental pollution. Compounding bioplastics with Polyethylene (PE) or Polylactic acid (PLA) containing a dairy-based bioplastic resulted in composites with good mechanical properties. In this study, mass ratios of a dairy-protein-based material (DBP) ranging from 0, 5, 10 and...

Polylactic acid composites incorporating casein functionalized cellulose nanowhiskers

BACKGROUND Polylactic acid (PLA) is considered to be a sustainable alternative to petroleum-based polymers for many applications. Using cellulose fiber to reinforce PLA is of great interest recently due to its complete biodegradability and potential improvement of the mechanical performance. However, the dispersion of hydrophilic cellulose fibers in the hydrophobic polymer matrix is usually poo...
